US History:
  • October 15 -- In-class paragraph writing: Describing the Three-Fifths Compromise, the Great Compromise, and the compromise to include a Bill of Rights and how these played a role in the ratification of the US Constitution. Outline Notes -- Section 1 of Chapter 4.
  • October 16 -- In-class paragraph writing: Why Abraham Lincoln decided to fight the Civil War, and why slavery was not an issue until 1862. Graphic Organizer Activity (handout in class): "The Drive for Reform" Reading of excerpt from Upton Sinclair's The Jungle, page 108 -- answer two questions on the page. Outline Notes, Section 2 of Chapter 4.
  • October 17 -- In-class paragraph writing: List and explain the three Civil War Amendments. Begin Section 3 of Chapter 4 -- Read "Comparing Viewpoints," page 117 and answer the two associated questions.
  • October 18 --  In-class paragraph writing: 2 Prominent Abolitionists, what they did, and how they contributed to the Abolitionist Movement. Complete Outline Notes on Section 3, Chapter 4 (pages 116 - 120), Answer questions 1 and 4, page 120
